Today we’re traveling from the Houston area to San Antonio, which should take about three hours, to visit the University of Texas there. Expect a full report tomorrow!
Meanwhile, here’s a quick movie review. Yesterday we saw “Race to Witch Mountain,” Disney’s remake of its own “Escape to Witch Mountain” from 1975. I didn’t see the original—a newly minted college grad seeing a kid movie? Surely you jest!—so I can’t compare them. However, the family really enjoyed the flick. It was action-packed (I kept reminding myself that it was rated “PG,” so no real harm was going to happen to the characters) and well-acted. Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson is proving to be as good to watch as he is to . . . er, watch (what a hunk!). The theatre was pretty full, which to me means that parents want movies that are more about plot than about swearing and sleeping around. But, of course, that’s not what Hollywood wants to produce, unfortunately.
If you’ve got young kids, go see this movie! Even the cynical, 17-year-old #1 son enjoyed it!
